Not only is it very humane, but it is very quick, and when done properly the animal will simply go to sleep and die without fear or pain.

I was just researching this in regards to one of my pet rats. I need to choose between a lingering and cruel death, or quick euthanasia. CAK is one of the best methods.

Killing animals en masse is not a good thing, but it's (unfortunately) going to be happening for a while. At least using a method that is quick and painless (and relatively cheap) is better than the nasty methods that are being used now.

Unfortunately, I have a bad feeling that the meat factories will find a way to make even a method like this be painful and frightening for the animals.
