Sorry it’s taken me ages to post anything. We’re finally settling in to our new apartment in downtown Minneapolis and we’re loving it. One of the highlights: we’re 2 blocks from Pizza LucĂ© now, which is newly renovated, and as I’ve mentioned before, has mouthwatering soy cheese pizza and a fantastic vegan chocolate peanut butter dessert. If we were completely devoid of willpower, we’d eat there all the time. But hopefully we can limit ourselves to a couple times a month. I mean, come on. Now that we’re downtown, we have lots of restaurants within walking distance. It’s time to branch out.
But we’re absolutely loving our new location. I found the most amazing walking/biking path across the Mississippi, which I will be taking to class every day once I start school. It goes right across the only natural waterfall along the Mississip. and there are all these cool ruins that have been uncovered. It’s really magical.

Waterfall on the Mississip.

Emory and I by the river.

Another river view.
And our apartment is so cool! Definitely the best place we’ve ever lived. It’s a loft with polished cement floors, and super high ceilings in the Warehouse District, also known as the North Loop. I apologize for bragging, but when you’ve lived in as many sub-par apartments as we have, it’s such a relief to live somewhere that we love, finally. And we feel so comfortable here already. We’ve entered the realm of hip young adults living in the city. And our neighbors are so friendly.

Our kitty, Sophia, enjoying our new place (and crushing our sofa cushions).

Our supercool kitchen.

Superhigh ceilings.
So that’s what I’ve been up to!

Looks nice! I love the “ruins” downtown, too.

Hey there, I’m from NZ and happened upon your blog today while looking up vegan nutrition (I’m coming up three weeks as a vegan and am finally getting around to reading up on it). Just wanted to say you’ve got a great blog and I love that your cat has a human name (sophisticaated too). All the best

You may want to double check on that soy cheese at Pizza Luce, last time I was there I asked the waitress to ask the chef for me and she came back saying that it was NOT vegan… I would be happy to hear that she was wrong.. but maybe check into that one.

Emily Says:
Wow. Thanks, Alicia. I will check on that. That would suck if they were lying on their menu about which items were vegan. But that is a risk we take when we eat out, sadly.

That is the unfortunate truth.. Let me know what you find out!!

I am not sure what I like more your kitchen or your adorable pudgy kitty!

Emily Says:
Haha. For the record, she’s totally not pudgy. She just has a flat face so she appears pudgier than she is. She’s actually a tiny little 9lb ball of fluff.

Hey Alicia,
Just wanted to confirm that I did go to the downtown Luce tonight and I asked about the cheese. According to the waitress it’s definitely vegan. Yay!
